Girl athletes

Sports is a highlight for the children and something we incorporate into the Choix curriculum. Our students look forward to the sporting events as it gives them an opportunity to shine outside the classroom. We invite neighboring schools to compete in friendly matches and always require that the visiting teams come with both boys and girls to promote gender neutrality. We’ve made big strides in this area – everyone in town knows that Choix teams are mixed. If girls aren’t on the team we don’t play. We are really leading a new trend in this regard and are happy with the progress being made.Last month we competed in our first Junior Olympic qualifier in Hinche (about 60 km north of Mirebalais). Our students performed exceptionally well. The Choix girls placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in middle distance and 1st in the sprint. The Choix boys placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th in middle distance and 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th in the sprint.

Congratulations to all the Choix athletes and supporters. Go Choix!
