We Stand on Ceremony

Ceremony has a place, doesn’t it?  I mean, in the US, we have ceremonies for a variety of thing, whether weddings, holidays, graduations or end of the soccer season.  We like to celebrate.

ImageAs Choix, we believe that it is important to establish ritual and ceremony, to allow our students to understand the value of creating our own Choix traditions and to honor their role in those traditions.  Some of these rituals have to do with curriculum content, such as our assembly each morning.  I will discuss our assemblies in another post.  Other traditions have to do with how we at Choix welcome our visitors.

Along with my daughters, Emma and Rachel, I arrived at Choix with my two colleagues, Aaron and Nick.  I was greeted at various spots throughout the campus by our beautiful classes . . . As we walked throughout the campus, we were greeted around each corner with another grade, and another song.  It was exceptionally beautiful.

Finally, we congregated in the cafeteria, our main gathering place as a school community, and were treated to a lovely cultural dance, poems, and welcome speeches.

Come visit us someday.  You will see us stand on ceremony.
